Chippenham - Cornwall

 

After the four days in Chippenham we took the train to Bristol, and by bus we went to Bristol Airport and picked up our pre-booked rental car and drove towards Cornwall. Sabine was the whole time driver and managed this challenge with no problem at all!

On the way to Cornwall we stopped for one night near Exmouth and explored the region I spent a few days during my Chippenham-time (55 years ago)!
Especially the region around Sandy Bay near Exeter has changed completely - not really to the better...

...where we enjoyed the very typical English Sunday Dinner: Sunday roast with Yorkshire Pudding!


And in Exmouth we had the very typical already Cornish afternoon tea: Cream-tea! lovely but nurishing!



Here at Sandy Bay near Exeter I was with my colleague Dave 55 years ago. At that time there was no building, just wilderness and a great beach. Now it is a holiday-village - incredible!

Cornwall - Edinburgh

 Our next target was Edinburgh. We (Sabine at the drivers seat) drove back to Bristol, where we took the Easyjet evening flight to Edinburgh. Here we had booked the Hampton by Hilton Hotel for the first night.. The next night we staieed in a great AirBnB a bit outside of Edinburgh (near Ocean Drive) --> Back to the index of this blog   We drove through the Dartmoor Handing back our rental car. Sabine drove 656 Miles = more than 1'000 km with no problem at all! We fetched the breakfast from the buffet and took it to our room, to minimize the risk of getting Covid Our Hotel --> Back to the index of this blog

Switzerland - Chippenham

We went by train to Zürich Airport. Already on the train journey I received a mail from my friend Tom: "due to a computer problem at Skyguide, all airtraffic has stopped in Switzerland"... We were lucky: until our flight was due, all problems and backlogs had been sorted out, so our flight was on time. In London Heatrhow we took the Coach to Chippenham, where our friend Ollie picked us up by car and drove us (with a coofee-stop on the way) to the AirBnB, that luckily was in walking distance to Ollies home. --> To the index of this blog    Due to the Skyguide computerproblem many flights were cancelled - luckily not ours!
