Edinburgh (with Robbie)

I know Robbie since summer 1966. Tom, Len and I hitch-hiked through Scotland. A good friend of my mother (Vreni Buerki from the Hotel Alpina in Matten near Interlaken) informed Robbie,a guest of her Hotel, that there might three lads be calling at his door. That's what we did. Since then we keep contact with Robbie who never had a Telephone!

We were so glad to find Robbie in good health (besides of his aching knees but he has bought himself a "foldable Electro-Scooter, see the picture). His brain works fantastic and he looks about 60 but he is 93 years old! His secrets: Bachelor! eats every morning porridge and a raw clove of garlic.
Luckily, Robbie has a very nice young Lady living next door. Maggie is there, if he needs a hand!

We had a great time with Robbie!

Here he is, our friend Robbie!!

He still has steam in his blood! He once was an engineer on Scottish steam railways

And he has his own model railway that he has built himself and still plays with it and extends it!

This is Robies "foldable Scooter" that he even can take at the Bus!

Of course we went to a Pub...

...or two...

Silouhette of Edinburgh

Sabine and I went on a sightseeing bus

And in the evening we treated ourself with another Indian Meal

Impressions of Edinburgh

That's where the Queen stays when she is in Scotland - which was the case when we were there!

And we visited the former Royal Yacht,  Britannia, very interesting!

This is THE Pub, that we loved 55 years ago: the Abbotsford! Robbie has been served by four(!) generations of tenants. And for many years Robbie was there every Saturday at 11 o clock --> the best way to get in contact with him, since he never had a telephone!

One day, Sabine and I took a Bus-Tour to Loch Lomand

The  Forth of Fife suspension bridge. From there Tom; Len and I started our hitch-hiking tour through Scotland in Summer 1966

Famous sculptures of the "Kelpies"

With this Boat, we sailed a short tour on Loch Lomond

In this Castle on Loch Lomand there was for many years a Youth Hostel. We staid there in 1966. Since about 10 years it is a high end Hotel.

A typical Highland Cattle.

Stirling Castle: our Bus stopped there and we had a look...

The Railwy Bridge across the Firth of Forth

Robbie shows us his back garden with the little workshop

A day with Robbie in Edinburgh: Here he shows us the birth place of Graham Bell - inventor of the telephone

And here "our" famous streed: the Rose Street

Robbie took us to this Pub, because...

...they sell THIS Beer! Our favourite 55 years ago

And on our last evening in Edinburgh in front of this Pub just close to our accmodation Sabine and I had a "Night-Cup" (Malt Whisky)

On the day of our departure: Once more to a Weatherspoon

Doom Bar, of course!
